Per Diem Volunteer Advocates

Sexual Assault Support Services of Midcoast Maine seeks per diem advocates to help staff our 24-hour crisis and support line. Survivors of sexual abuse and assault need support, empathy and someone available to listen.

Advocates provide telephone support, support and accompaniment for survivors and significant others through medical and forensic examinations, and advocacy with law enforcement personnel.

The training is an estimated 46-hour program, covering topics of Sexual Assault, Childhood Sexual Abuse, Rape Trauma Syndrome, Medical and Legal Processes and Advocacy skills.

Per Diem advocates must be caring, dependable and over the age of 18. No prior experience is necessary. To learn about becoming an advocate, call Kayce at 725-2181, or email at Kayce Hunton.
